Project Brief. Assignment 1

Name: A'liah Bt Abdul Rahim
No. Id: 1122700923
Artwork title: A Women
Artist Statement: This artwork talks about human. From human, I choose a women. Women or mother, is really important to everyone. When I think about mother, I just get idea that really important for women which is, when she pregnant. Actually, when women pregnant everyone will take good care of them not just because of the baby. It's because of the mother, that caring out her body from anywhere she go. From the shape that I did is all round. A pregnant women sitting or resting. In this project, I just use one color, that is red; actually represents for women because most of women loves rose. But from my project here, I choose red because of passion, love, and blood. Why passion? Passion is for a pregnant women that always strong for life her baby. Why love? Love represents herself suffering for everyone or her family.  Then, finally, blood. Blood appreciate everything what is given to her, blood is important when she giving a birth.

Artwork Treatment: Paper Clay, Mounting Board, Arcylic, Glue, Sponge and Brush

Process For Assignment 2

So, here my sculpture~ Haha
Now I will paint it white to make the clay look smooth.

 a)
 b)
And here the result look :) Now the clay look very smooth as i thought

Final step, I drop some red acrylic, just in front of the shape. because it will represent my topic.

I have try all my sketched using the clay,  and finally the clay look like this. Here is my Final Sketch.
I just use one color for my assignment.  That is red, because it is actually a blood means blood in red also LOVE. So, my emotions for my sculpture is LOVE. :)

Process For Assignment 1

Step by step :)

Finally, my final piece~~ ! For assignment one. Here is the materials I used throughout the process :

i. White Fabric Dye

ii. Sponge

iii. Red Arcylic

iv. Clay and Mounting Board

v. A brush

Then now, the process ~~

Firstly , i just cut the mounting board. After that , I just play with the clay. Make it into a shape. Actually, I don't have any base to make my clay stand-up okay. So I just make a shape first of all.

Yeaah ! I can see a shape of head . . But don't know if it go right or not. So, I just make a shape from the clay slowly and careful because this clay too soft and I don't have any base on it. I scared if ugly or what~~

And finally, hurrr? the side, front and back view.. can you guys guess what isnt? Oh god ! I'm actually try some of my sketch before done like this! It's hard to make a sculpture from clay. But, thanks god. This done ! Need to touch-up and wait until it dry, before put some color on in :)

Inspirations (prt II)

Poem for pregnant women :)

I've carried you for a little while
Feeling you move sure makes me smile

I wish for you a life of love
Filled with caring, goodness and guidance from above

I wish for you a heart of gold
And always assure you my hand is here to hold

I wish for you a mind like no other
So as you grow up, the world's yours to discover

I wish for you a life of success
To accomplish your best and never any less

I wish you could feel this love as I do
I know someday you will carry me too

Overwhelmed with love in my heart tonight
As I lay on my bed and hold my belly tight

I wish for you to be healthy and strong
And I pray each day that your life will be long

I wish for you a life with no pain
No teardrops to fall like droplets of rain

I wish for you friendships that last
And I hope each day for you is a blast

I wish for your arrival with ten fingers and toes
If you are a girl we'll buy ribbons and bows

I wish for you all of life's joys
We'll get race cars and trucks if you're one of God's baby boys

I will never expect perfection from you
Just be who you are and always be true

Mommy wishes all of this and more
But God only knows what your future has in store

When the time comes and you are placed in my arms
I will do all that I can to keep you from harm

I will guide you and teach you all that I can
Take one day at a time is my lifelong plan

I can't wait to meet you when the time arrives
When I first see your face I know I will cry

I love you like I've loved nothing before
Although I can't see you, you're the one I adore

Mommy loves you my baby

Color Symbolism and Meanings

Source: http://www.incredibleart.org/lessons/middle/color2.htm

Western World:
Traffic lights: Red means stop, yellow means caution, and green means go. Yellow signs also warn drivers of upcoming curves, pedestrian crossings, and animal crossings.
Patriotism: Most, if not all countries have a flag. The colors of each flag are usually seen as patriotic. Red, white, and blue symbolizes patriotism in the U.S.A.
Holidays: Red and green are favorite Christmas colours. Colors of Autumn such as orange, brown, yellow and red are associated with Thanksgiving with black and orange associated with Halloween. Pastel colors are used for Easter. Because flowers are a common gift for Mother's Day, colors such as yellow, pink, and red are used frequently.
Color Symbolism Chart
Excitement, energy, passion, love, desire, speed, strength, power, heat, aggression, danger, fire, blood, war, violence, all things intense and passionate.
Pink symbolizes love and romance, caring, tenderness, acceptance and calm.
Beige and ivory symbolize unification. Ivory symbolizes quiet and pleasantness. Beige symbolizes calm and simplicity.
Joy, happiness, betrayal, optimism, idealism, imagination, hope, sunshine, summer, gold, philosophy, dishonesty, cowardice, jealousy, covetousness, deceit, illness, hazard and friendship.
Peace, tranquility, cold, calm, stability, harmony, unity, trust, truth, confidence, conservatism, security, cleanliness, order, loyalty, sky, water, technology, depression, appetite suppressant.
Turquoise symbolizes calm. Teal symbolizes sophistication. Aquamarine symbolizes water. Lighter turquoise has a feminine appeal.

Lavender symbolizes femininity, grace and elegance.
Energy, balance, enthusiasm, warmth, vibrant, expansive, flamboyant, demanding of attention.

Power, sexuality, sophistication, formality, elegance, wealth, mystery, fear, evil, unhappiness, depth, style, evil, sadness, remorse, anger, anonymity, underground, good technical color, mourning, death (Western cultures).
color

Eastern World:
Marriage: White and pink are favorite just as in the western world.
Green: Eternity, family, harmony, health, peace, posterity
Happiness: Red
Helpful: Gray
Wealth: Blue, gold and purple
White: Children, helpful people, marriage,
mourning, peace, purity, travel
Gold: Strength, wealth
Evil or sadness- Just like in the western world- black.

Emotions: Blue is seen as conservative. Red is power and aggression. Brighter colors such as yellow and orange represent warmth not only with emotions but also with temperature. Cool colors are blue, green, black or any color with a dark shade. When someone is feeling down or depressed, it is said they are feeling "blue." When someone is angry they "see red." When someone is seen to be afraid or "chicken" they are called "yellow."
Ecology: Obviously green is the major color symbolizing ecology. The new phrase for people or companies who find ways to cut back on electricity, fuel, or things that damage the environment is "going green."
Phrases: When something is seen as opposite, extreme, or a firm position, it is said to be "black or white." When something is not clear or not in a firm position, it is said to be a "gray area." The blues describe a form of music.
Religion:
Colours are also used in religious ceremonies or represent aspects of religion. Native Americans include colors in religious ceremonies. The Navajo Nation considers four colors to be important: Turquoise, white, yellow, and black. These colors represent four sacred mountains. The Apache Nation also considers four colors to be important: Green, white, yellow and black. These are sacred colors of the white mountain and are also used in government. The Iowa Nation also considers four colors to be sacred: Black, yellow, red and white. They represent direction, their flag, and what they consider to be four races of man. [1]
Use In Therapy:
Colors are sometimes used in therapy. Colors have a huge effect on people who have brain disorders or who are emotionally troubled. The color blue has a calming effect on many people and lowers respiration and blood pressure. Red has the opposite effect. Some therapists use green to sooth and relax emotionally disturbed people who suffer from anxiety or depression. Some claim that the color violet is good for migraines but I doubt that claim because it would be used more extensively in the medical field. Yellow helps energize people and relieves depression.
Color In World Culture
Color means many different things to different people and cultures. We all have our own favorite colors. People like different colors like they like different foods. Color also represents feelings, people, countries, cultures, and color symbolism. In the western world, the color red is seen frequently of symbolizing anger or aggression. Some car insurance companies charge more for red cars because some of the owners of red cars are more aggressive or take more risks.

Since I don't have any idea . So i decide to do a mind maps concept. I did a few mind maps to avoid using a stereotype symbols or or thinking. I'm learn this process since I in my foundation year.
First mind map, I just do a human's true our nature life which closely related to humankind behaviour in this generation. ---->

Then finally ! I get idea, thanks god. Yeaa! This Mind Maps process quit helping me to get some idea. So I narrowed it down to only specific character that I chose a big title that is Women :) This second mind maps clearly shown how I progressed to my ideation.
